A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 17:22

My Reading List
The stack of books on my nightstand, porch table, and ottoman are always tall. I like to have a book to accompany my quiet time, along with the bible and my journal. I like to underline, tag, highlight, and be able to go back to what I've learned from that text. These are books that I am currently reading or have read. I am not paid by these authors. I just think a good recommendation is what we need to get started sometimes!
Risen Motherhood
The subtitle spoke to me on this one. Gospel hope for everyday moments. Mothering is so difficult and draining, I really can use some hope. Currently reading, not too far in, but already have a sense that the authors are passionate about mothering and the hope we need!

Battlefield of the Mind
When I was going through a really dark time, this was the only book I could find that really dug into spiritual battles. The last 5 years have brought much more information about the struggle with the mind. I find Joyce Meyer so encouraging and real. This book changed the course of my Christian life.

Jesus Calling
This is a regular in my quiet time. It doesn't matter what I'm going through, this always speaks to me, year after year. I love the way Sarah Young writes as from Jesus' point of view.

Embraced
Lysa Terkeurst writes from the soul. She is able to capture God's grace and the freedom we find meeting with Him. This book captures just how loved we are, and is very encouraging as a daily devotional. This is another one that, no matter what I'm going through, it seems to apply to that day.

Out of the Spin Cycle
This daily devotion style of book, with Jen's poignant accuracy of the difficulty of motherhood matched with her humor and grace, helped me see I'm not alone in this season of life.

Walking with God
This book changed my life as well. John Eldredge is another comforting, real about life writer that really spoke to me. This changed how I "hear" God, and how simple it really is.

Remember God
Annie F. Downs is such an encouraging speaker- check out her podcast, That Sounds Fun. She writes exactly as she talks, which makes it all the more fun to read, but also writes from her personal experiences with life, which I appreciate!

The Prayer That Changes Everything
This is another life changer one for me. Early in my 'grown up faith' I had so many questions. Stormie Omartian explains the importance of praise, and why we even do it, whether we're going through a storm or a peaceful season. I soaked up every word she wrote. She also writes from her personal experience. I liked the flip-to-whatever-chapter-you-need format.
